Marzio Keiling
Founding Partner

Marzio is a Founding Partner at MRE .He focuses primarily on renewables and resources businesses today.  Prior to Maiora, Marzio was Head of Sales for Deutsche Bank in APAC. Previous to that, he ran Equity and Debt Capital Markets in the region. Between 2008 and 2010, Marzio was responsible for Deutsche Banks Global Markets business in Tokyo and member of the Global Markets Management Committee. Marzio has over 25 years of experience in global markets. 

He holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and Management from Technical University Berlin as well as Masters of Science in Management from M.I.T.’s Sloan School.

Jason Block
Founding Partner

Jason is a Founding Partner at MRE He helped establish Maiora’s renewables business in 2012 and focuses primarily on that businesses today. Since 2012 he’s guided the firm’s investments in over 1.6 GW of solar PV projects globally. Prior to MRE, Jason was a Director at Deutsche Bank in Tokyo where he helped establish Deutsche’s mezzanine debt business for non-recourse commercial real estate loans. Jason has over 15 years experience in financial markets and has lived in Asia for over 20 years. 

He holds a B.A from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and speaks English, Japanese and Chinese. 

Clay Kinney
Founding Partner

Clay is a founding partner at MRE. He focuses primarily on renewables financings. Prior to MRE, Clay was the Head of Structured Finance at Deutsche Bank in Tokyo. He has as over 20 years of financial industry experience, spanning debt financing, equity issuance, M&A, and complex tax structuring, working for global financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, UBS, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Clay has a BA from the University of Oregon, a JD from Temple University, is in the Duke Fuqua MBA program, and has a post graduate diploma from Harvard University`s School of Design. Clay is fluent in English & Japanese.

Sergio Asenjo
Global Head of Engineering

Sergio was the Business Manager for the PV business and the Worldwide Manager of the Center of Competence Solar Business at ABB.  He has led operations in more than 14 countries with more than 4 GW developed in PV and 1.6 GW built worldwide, including 300 MW in Europe, 200MW in Africa 550 MW in the Americas and Americas 550 MW in  Asia. Sergio has extensive experience in  complex automation and electrical systems on CSP technologies with more than 1GW units on the spread.

He holds an Electronic’s Engineering degree and an MBA from Instituto de Empresa business school, Spain.

David Payne
CFO

David has over 25 years of investment banking experience to MD level, having previously worked at UBS, Merrill Lynch, Citi and Deutsche Bank.  David spent much of his investment banking career in management and COO roles for markets businesses in London, Hong Kong and Japan and was recently Head of Business Control and Surveillance. 

David holds an MA in Economics and is a qualified chartered accountant.  David worked at PWC prior to his investment banking career. 

Erik Siddons
Chief Legal Counsel

Erik, serves as Maiora’s Chief Legal Officer, managing transactional and corporate legal matters for the Maiora Group.  Prior to joining Maiora, Erik founded Pan-Pacific Advisors, a Hong Kong based consultancy, advising U.S. corporations, on strategic investments and legal matters in Asia.  He had previously spent ten years in private practice handling M&A, private equity investments, cross-border transactions, and general corporate matters at leading law firms in Los Angeles, Taipei, and Tokyo.

He has a BA with Honors in Political Science from the University of California at Irvine and his JD with Honors from the Gould School of Law at the University of Southern California  and is a member of the California Bar. He is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese, and has a basic competency in Japanese and Thai.
